HELLO KIND-HEARTED PEOPLE,
My name is ATEMOKU SELINA FRANCIS, aged 34 from Okirika in Rivers State, a single parent of three handsome male children aged 7,11 and 13.
I am a Registered Staff Nurse / Midwife working with the Braithwaite Memorial Specialist Hospital (BMSH), Port-Harcourt, Nigeria.
Presently am very ill and I’m writing this piece to all good spirited individuals and the philanthropic society, as an appeal for both your prayers and financial aid to enable me go for the necessary treatments and bounce back on my feet again. Below is a brief history of my protracted ailment.
It all started in May 2015. On this fateful day, I was having my bath when my whole body started itching seriously, so I rushed out of the bathroom and took some medication to quell the itching which yielded a temporal relief. The next day I started feeling the itching again so I took the same medication which still stopped the itching. Sometime in August 2015 the itching started again, this time I decided to see a doctor at the Braithwaite Memorial Specialist Hospital (BMSH) for a proper medical examination. Filariasis was queried, so I was asked to do further examination which confirmed the initial suspicion and I was given prescription in that direction. I took my drugs with absolute trust in God for a permanent healing but all to no avail as the itching continued unabated.
I reported back to my doctor after completing the dosage and was referred to see a Hematologist who later diagnosed me of cancer of the lymph node (Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma). Scared of the result and as a religious person I rejected the result and went home. Days later the condition worsened, so I decided to visit another hospital, the University of Port-Harcourt Teaching Hospital (UPTH), Choba, Port-Harcourt where the same “Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma” was confirmed after series of investigations. The treatment prescribed to me was Chemotherapy. At this point I became so anemic and so was admitted for blood transfusion. Two pints of blood was transfused in me before I was allowed to commence the Chemotherapy on the 11th of April 2017. I was placed on 8 shots on a 21 days circle, but couldn’t continue after the 3rd shot due to financial constrain. A single parent of three abandoned by the man to cater for myself and the boys coupled with my deteriorating health condition is not something anybody should wish even her worst enemy. Paused in tears! Life is harsh to me; honestly I don’t know my sin to deserve this cruelty. Five weeks later I continued with the 4th to 7th shots with some financial aids from my pensioner parents and some kind hearted friends. But on receipt of the 7th shot I noticed that the swollen lymph node was still there as if no treatment has been taken so I discussed the matter with my consultant who asked me not to continue with the 8th shot that the chemo wasn’t effective in my case. She (my consultant) therefore sent me for further test and diagnosis. Another Lymph Node Biopsy, Bone Marrow Aspiration and Biopsy, CT Abdomen and Chest X-ray was done on me though it wasn’t so easy because of the cost implication in carrying out these test, but I have to do it by all means as someone in dire-need for good health. The new result revealed SINUS HISTIOCYTOSIS and I have been recommended for Radiotherapy but do not have the money to commence the treatment.
Consequent upon this my ordeal I am appealing to well-meaning individual to please come to my aid with your prayers and monetary donation to raise N4, 000.000 (Four Million Naira only) to enable me commence the Radiotherapy and all necessary treatment.
You have done it for others before; kindly do same for me too, help me and Save My Life. God will bless you abundantly and He will never allow this type of devastating affliction to come near you! No Amount is Too Small.
